1901 Steinway & Sons Model A Art Case Piano
Originally built in 1901, this model A is the original 6’ 2” scale often declared to be one of Steinway’s best instruments. The piano was restored fully in Europe over a period of 18 months to create not only a great instrument but a one-of-a-kind piece of art.
It is finished in figured select polished burled walnut and ebony and features custom hand-carved music rack, legs, and pedal lyre. The burled wood appears on the fallboard, music rack sides, rim, underside of grand lid, lid prop and around the outer rim as well.
The beautiful and highly detailed cast iron plate was also forged in the Steinway factory, something that hasn’t been the case since 1938. You can see many of the important historical facts about Steinway in the patent dates.
